Canton Bicycle Club’s first Duathlon of the 2005 season was held on June 21, 2005 at the Canton Central Schools. A pleasant, breezy summer night greeted the hearty duathletes who completed the run-bike-run event. Participants and club members came from a number of local communities as well as Watertown, Chaumont, and Rossie NY.

 

Overall event winners were, as follows:  Men:  Jim Allott, 42:41; Women: Amy Cutler, 46:56; Team: Pete Cutler and Erik Bolt, 38:04 (team course record!).

 

The complete roster included: Women: Amy Cutler; Kara Rusch, 52:56; Pam Richards, 54:20; Joan Firman, 64:20; Lyle Montgomery, 69:40; Shirley White, 83:02; Jessie Akins, NTR; Erin Moore, NTR;.

Men: Jim Allott; Mike Harris, 42:56; Marc Rusch, 43:11; Eric Tyo, 45:01; Eric Barr, 48:04; Terry Gardner, 51:06; Larry Rowe, 52:13; Ron DuMoulin, 52:34; Peter Feickert, 53:26; Todd Alessi, 53:51; Floyd Firman, 66:54.

Teams:  Pete Cutler and Eric Bolt; Kevin Emblidge and Jenny Townsend, 42:45; Ethan Townsend and Michael Hart, 45:54; Matt Szeliga and Suzanne Gibson, 59:50; Kelcey Rusch and Ryan Rusch, 61:52.

 

Numerous club and community members serve as volunteers for these events, and without their support, the events could not be conducted.

 

The Canton Bicycle Club will hold the second duathlon of the season on July 19, 2005, 7:00pm start. Sunday tour rides also will continue, weather permitting, in June and July from the NBT Bank parking lot. Visit our new web site, www.bike-nny.org for details.
